1. Service description

Douse is a financial monitoring tool that connects to your bank accounts via Plaid, detects spending activity, and delivers alerts to help you stay within your chosen spending zones. Douse is a personal finance tool — it is not a medical, therapeutic, clinical, or counselling service.

2. Not a medical or therapeutic service

Douse does not provide medical advice, psychological counselling, or any form of clinical treatment. The service is a financial monitoring tool only. If you are experiencing a crisis or need immediate support, please contact a qualified professional or a crisis helpline in your country.

3. User responsibilities

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use Douse.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
  • You agree to provide accurate information when connecting bank accounts and setting your comfort zone.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the phone numbers you provide for SMS alerts and support person invitations.
  • You agree not to use the service for any unlawful purpose.

4. Subscription and billing

Douse offers a free tier and a Pro tier. Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as shown on the pricing page. Subscriptions are managed through the App Store (iOS), Google Play (Android), or our web checkout. Cancellations and refunds are governed by the respective platform's policies.

Downgrading from Pro to free will take effect at the end of your current billing period. Safety features — including the panic button and basic alerts — are always available regardless of subscription tier and will never be paywalled.

5. Limitation of liability

Douse is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any missed alerts, incorrect spending categorisation, bank connectivity failures, or any decisions made in reliance on information provided by the service. In no event shall Douse's liability exceed the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

6. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Douse is incorporated. Specific jurisdiction details will be added upon legal review.
